yes, after lots of time - dissecting one of my 500GB Wester Digital book drives – couldn’t find the right power adaptor (I have lots of external drives and I never know which has what adapter) – it was the last drive that could have the “lost” wedding images in – so I ripped it open. it took me some time and now it’s in a more – say, mobile format. :) Less plastic. I have this e-sata reader that can connect naked drives and it worked perfect. I found my lost picture too and I couldn’t help myself not processing it instantly.

So here’s the result. Compare to old post with the “old” process. :) And yes I took the car away in LR – fast and dirty. Added some vignette again too. Should be around ISO35.

I could save some of that highlight but not all. Still I’m happy. Maybe I’ll rediscover this shot when SPP 5 comes out? :D The beauty of RAW!

And finally here comes some real Sigma SD15 shots taken by Olga, Bob assisted with the strobe or reflector. Both the SD15 and lens used belongs to me and that says something about the ease of use. :) Just pick it up and focus on picture making. All shots taken with the new Sigma 50-500 OS and developed using Sigmas lates SPP 4.1.

Tomorrow morning I leave for China together with my beautiful wife and we will be gone for about a month. Although I will bring laptop and cameras so I’ll post from there. Until then, enjoy these shots!

Just came home from a wedding session and wanted to share this very DP1′ish shot! :D I wanted the flash inside to get the “sunny” feeling. hehe. Anyways. BEDTIME.

Alright – with my new Mac I had to get started! These are produced with the help of Sigma Photo Pro 3.2 (color shots) and Raw Developer 1.8 (black and white shot). All pictures ends up as 16bit tiffs in Aperture. From aperture I add some final adjustments – sometimes with the help of Viveza and sometimes with a little bit of vignetting etc – it’s mostly for the easy upload to flickr and possibility to add my signature without hazel.

Another really fun wedding session, this time a bit north or everything in a town called Mariestad – more famous for it’s fine beer. It was a bit tricky as Linn is now working down south as a guide on a castle and she couldn’t be my assistant. I really wanted that – so we improvised and used the best man for the job. Lucky for Jon and Carolina, it worked great! You can actually see him on several shots.

Oh, I also improved my car shooting style thingi – fun stuff! Lucky for me we had the time needed to play.

Cameras used was SD14 and DP1 – I had many lenses with me – more or less all but I ended up using the trusty 12-24 the most as I love the cokin filter border effect so much. Second place I think is 30 or 50mm 1.4 not sure as 50 is so new for me I tend to reach for the 30mm. 120-300 does give me joy when needed. It’s not very easy to find good occations or locations for it but when it’s time then it’s great!

I also noticed a slight magenta cast in some of the “just out of the church” shots – just so you know. :D

When open the whole article more pictures appears as well as some whom has been shown already above. Don’t be frightened about that, it’s perfectly normal.

Another wedding session, and I’m happy to announce that DP1 is a great b camera! :D Linn had hers with her all the time (she assist me) and she took quite a few really nice shots. I used mine as well and I got more keepers from the DP1 (compared to amount of shots taken) than with the SD14. More time to think? I think one or two of Linns are among these too.

My workflow has slightly changed and looks like the following. I make the basic adjustments from SD14 and DP1 RAW in SPP 2.5 Windows. After adjustments are done I import all into a new project in Apple Aperture.

In Aperture I use the new plugin called Viveza to further adjust certain spots – add light to face or simply to enhance black and white images. I also use Aperture to dodge and burn, crop and straighten, add vignetting and my little watermark. I don’t apply vignetting to all but to many shots. So don’t judge lenses because of my images. hehe..

During all this I also add stars to my favorites, this I later use when publishing to the couple and the very best here on my website. I ended up with 44 images in this post and 133 to the couple, I started with about 300 from SPP and around 700 in total from field..

Here’s three pictures from a wedding I shot this summer. For some reason I don’t remember I had switched to MED resolution (1776×1184) Looking at these makes me think that maybe I would gain something. These are unaltered, just exported from Lightroom. Nothing changed from RAW. For me it looks very much like my old slide-film. I think this feeling is partly due to the use of VPS. (pixels stacked together to gather more light)

This is the third and final part in the series about Jeannette & Magnus. We have covered the preparations for the bride in two sets (Hair and Face) and here, finally we put the Groom into the picture and look at him! :D

Pictures are mainly taken with Sigma 10-20, Sigma 28mm and Sigma 70mm. Camera used is SD14. This last series contains 36 photos. Processed using Lightroom and Darkroom. (read more about them here) – Assistant was Linn (Liu Dong Yun)

This is the second part of the series around Jeannette & Magnus Wedding. This part contains images from a hotel room in Malmö. The bride did her own make up and her best friend was there to assist her. (you saw her in the first Hair serie) – btw, the bride is from Venezuela.

Many of these shots are ISO400 to 800.

This is the first part in a series of three. Hair, Face and finally Together. These images was all taken this last Saturday, 15th of Oct and I used SD14 + four lenses. 10-20, 28mm, 30mm and 70mm.

This first part from the hairdresser contains 19 images. Processed using Lightroom and Darkroom. Some images have been altered using Photoshop. (colors) – click on each one for half, full size.

[edit, text updated #2] We had a great time at the Wedding and I shot something like 700 photos – 83 of them are now published. Their full names was Zeng Xiao Gang and Maria Ådahl – the new name is unknown. [EDIT: Putt Mr and Mrs before, no other changes are made] :D I was too busy taking pictures to listen. Maria, maybe you could add a comment about it?! These pictures will now find its way into a picture book.

The black corners a due to a filter thread that I use sometimes with my wide angles. (I got it very recently) It’s something that could be described as a “sky saver” a faded one stop saving plastic. I felt very happy about using it because it gave me the feeling of 6×6 (you can easily see the black left / right frame on some pictures). It’s much more fun to balance the picture this way (and I got more powerful skies at the same time).

I still wonder why there isn’t any 35mm digital SLR’s that has a square image. That would be so nice! You would never have to think in terms of landscape / portrait any longer. Just like in the good old days!

I’m an old timer when it comes to SD cameras. My first was the SD9 back in 2002 and I’ve been hooked ever since. It’s not always been an easy ride, as my fellow Sigma-friends can assure but when focus and light has been perf you have an outstanding image that somehow speaks to the heart in a different way then a “bayern” image do. More analog if you like. It’s a little like the apple / pc thing, we Sigma people tend to really love our tool and the Sigma company. It’s a life style.

Now, I had the opportunity to work with the SD14. The first edition I had was before Photokina 2006, but after I used it for a week or two I had a big problem to go back to my older SD cameras. My web page has slowly died too, reason?. The SD14 is so much more. Handling, speed, AF, low-light performance, batteries etc etc. Even the vertical grip that will come out is extremely nice – The overall build quality is now so much more pro and balanced.

If you wanna compare it to the big guys, this Sigma is more like a Nikon.

Now, these images that I wanna show to you are developed using a modified old Sigma Photo Pro software. The SPP 2.2 (Mac version). The SPP 3.0 would maybe produce even better result. If you think they look a bit on the warm side that’s done by me, I want wedding shots warm and cozy.
