As you know I’m on a laptop and I developed these in different light etc so just enjoy, don’t pick too much on the development. I used iPhoto as my post production software and iPhoto saves JPEGS either as super compressed or not compressed – the not compressed option creates JPEG’s of 15MB-21MB each so it’s really a no no.. So, jpeg artifacts can be seen quite easily. So beware! :)

My Chinese family, with mom and dad (in China, the custom says that when married, they become my parents as well.. So saying mom and dad to them feels awkward but nice. :)

70-200 in action! I’m not often keen on using it as it’s a bit heavy. But it’s really a nice lens! It’s the old version btw, without Macro.

I almost forgot that I had the 70-200, and I decided to take it for a spin with my students - equipped with both the new 50-500 and the 70-200 we had an outdoor, long zoom, reflector class. Sun was setting and because I didn’t have any yellow toned filter / gel for my Quadra I used a circular golden reflector instead.

I was really amazed with how snappy my old 70-200 was and how precise it hit the eye – shot after shot after shot! I did calibrate it more than half a year ago and didn’t really use it since then (dark winter) but now I realize how well I did, and how friendly it have become! I didn’t remember the bokeh to be this beautiful! It’s really awesome!

The above girl is one of my students, her name is Elke Knorr and she took the picture below of me. I was also surpriced to find that all her shots were all in focus as well. I will definitely use this lens more!. :) Perhaps I should make a 120-300 vs 70-200 thingi..

Also notice the light. Sun comes in from the left and a golden reflector from the right.

Oh, and yes. This is me with the 50-500. Look at that sweet bokeh – and those colors all came out so nice. And this is the old 70-200 2.8EX, (not the oldest oldest) without any macro – so it’s a bit irritating to have to go back in order to focus. I think 1.5m is the closest.

No extra sharpening on these images. Some PS levels but that’s more or less it. All shots at f3.5. SPP4. You can find them all as full size, plus some more here!

Here’s pictures of some of my photo students – the very top shot is taken by Alexander Troll, the rest before the brake is mine. And what we did this time was using one light only, using a pretty big softbox (same as last time) and a blue background. We tried two sets of lenses – Sigmas 10-20 and 70-200 – none of the 10-20 shots where worth showing as it’s a small studio and too much of the surrounding stuff is showing. Might add that it’s great fun teaching photography to a group of this sort as they’re in different ages and nationalities. I have my class in english.

Most shots are developed using Lightroom 2.5 and I played a bit with colors. :) (what?, you did? I thought they came out like this!!)

Second batch from the session with my students only this time I involved a little bit more photoshop. All these are available as big size (around 4573 x 3048px = 14MP) in this flickr set they’re all developed using Sigma Photo Pro 2.5 for PC and later post processed on a Mac.

But there is many more images to be developed, I might put out a few more.

We had real fun last night – me and my young peoples group. I told them to add some make up this time and telling by these shots, at least there is some hair spray! They’re all saved as double size output – so if you want to see what they look like as huge printable pictures – please go to my flickr page and enjoy.

This time I didn’t use the DP1 – only SD14. Lenses used was Sigmas 28mm, 70mm, 70-200 and 50mm 1.4. All of them performed splendidly!

Another really fun wedding session, this time a bit north or everything in a town called Mariestad – more famous for it’s fine beer. It was a bit tricky as Linn is now working down south as a guide on a castle and she couldn’t be my assistant. I really wanted that – so we improvised and used the best man for the job. Lucky for Jon and Carolina, it worked great! You can actually see him on several shots.

Oh, I also improved my car shooting style thingi – fun stuff! Lucky for me we had the time needed to play.

Cameras used was SD14 and DP1 – I had many lenses with me – more or less all but I ended up using the trusty 12-24 the most as I love the cokin filter border effect so much. Second place I think is 30 or 50mm 1.4 not sure as 50 is so new for me I tend to reach for the 30mm. 120-300 does give me joy when needed. It’s not very easy to find good occations or locations for it but when it’s time then it’s great!

I also noticed a slight magenta cast in some of the “just out of the church” shots – just so you know. :D

When open the whole article more pictures appears as well as some whom has been shown already above. Don’t be frightened about that, it’s perfectly normal.

Rainy day going out with my little brothers boat. Windy and dark sky made my day. Light changed rapidly as sun sometimes came throu and I must say there is lots more easier tasks than correct white balance a day like this. :D – So bare with me. Btw, we went out to fish – the only fish we saw was this one. (see below shot)

And above shot shows myself doing one of those – don’t know how to behave in FRONT of the camera. I really do have a problem with that. Behind me is Xiao Gang – the guy that I used to live together with during some of my years in China.

Wide open at 2.8! The 70-200 has recently given me really nice pictures.

Another wedding session, and I’m happy to announce that DP1 is a great b camera! :D Linn had hers with her all the time (she assist me) and she took quite a few really nice shots. I used mine as well and I got more keepers from the DP1 (compared to amount of shots taken) than with the SD14. More time to think? I think one or two of Linns are among these too.

My workflow has slightly changed and looks like the following. I make the basic adjustments from SD14 and DP1 RAW in SPP 2.5 Windows. After adjustments are done I import all into a new project in Apple Aperture.

In Aperture I use the new plugin called Viveza to further adjust certain spots – add light to face or simply to enhance black and white images. I also use Aperture to dodge and burn, crop and straighten, add vignetting and my little watermark. I don’t apply vignetting to all but to many shots. So don’t judge lenses because of my images. hehe..

During all this I also add stars to my favorites, this I later use when publishing to the couple and the very best here on my website. I ended up with 44 images in this post and 133 to the couple, I started with about 300 from SPP and around 700 in total from field..

Finally after much wait – here is the first of two parts from a photo session I had for the second year somewhere in the wilderness of Sweden. Now, these shots are not meant to be examined deeply – much because some of them are not extremely in focus. (I left the camera sometimes on a tripod having just a trigger in my hand and therefor they could walk out of focus).

I alternated between three different PS plugins to get the look that I wanted or simply to blow out the white background. The ones used most (for white background) is Viveza, the secondly most used is AlienSkin Exposure and the third used for one or two shots is Nik Color Efex Pro.

All shots are here presented in full resolution. Two shots have been slightly cropped. The rest have been left as is.

ArkadiaFoto in Partille / Göteborg invited me to help them shot some models. I wanted to see and test the studio so I went there this very evening and tried light and some of my lenses. So here’s some of the resulting pictures. All images availible as almost full size download. I ended up using one profoto softboxed 1200w light slightly behind me to the right.

Lenses used: 30mm, 70-200, 120-300 and 10-20.
Camera: SD14 – ISO set to 100 by mistake. Should of course have been ISO50.

Today I made a discovery. My little brother Josef is going to Taize in France and wanted to lend a camera. I gave him my good old SD10 and when fiddling with it I found a CF card that I thought I had lost! :D So here we have some of the containing images. It’s from earlier this summer. SD14, 70-200 and Lightroom 1.1

I took Linn out to the railway for a focus test and for your enjoyment I publish some of the resulting images. We had a nice time and rain was in the air. We had to run before we were done.

I’ve been fighting with my new monitor today. It’s a used Lacie 22 blue IV and I’m using a spider2 (thanks Thunderlance) to calibrate it. But I did it when it was bright and well, I wasn’t very satisfied with the result and I’ve been draging pictures back and forth between my laptops screen and the Lacie in order to see what it could look like IRL.. hehe Feels like I should only work in darkness with CRT’s..

This time I decided to give Camera Raw CS3 a chance and it worked pretty well. Good color control but a bit noisier. I never turned on noise reduction, maybe that’s why! ;) Black and whites looks far better using SPP, I think I will renmake those later.

ISO ranging from 100 to 800. Flash used in church sometimes. oh, Thanks Daniel Premberg for helping me with that reflector. :D
