Another wedding session, and I’m happy to announce that DP1 is a great b camera! :D Linn had hers with her all the time (she assist me) and she took quite a few really nice shots. I used mine as well and I got more keepers from the DP1 (compared to amount of shots taken) than with the SD14. More time to think? I think one or two of Linns are among these too.
My workflow has slightly changed and looks like the following. I make the basic adjustments from SD14 and DP1 RAW in SPP 2.5 Windows. After adjustments are done I import all into a new project in Apple Aperture.
In Aperture I use the new plugin called Viveza to further adjust certain spots - add light to face or simply to enhance black and white images. I also use Aperture to dodge and burn, crop and straighten, add vignetting and my little watermark. I don’t apply vignetting to all but to many shots. So don’t judge lenses because of my images. hehe..
During all this I also add stars to my favorites, this I later use when publishing to the couple and the very best here on my website. I ended up with 44 images in this post and 133 to the couple, I started with about 300 from SPP and around 700 in total from field..

The two above shots are DP1

Finally after much wait - here is the first of two parts from a photo session I had for the second year somewhere in the wilderness of Sweden. Now, these shots are not meant to be examined deeply - much because some of them are not extremely in focus. (I left the camera sometimes on a tripod having just a trigger in my hand and therefor they could walk out of focus).

I alternated between three different PS plugins to get the look that I wanted or simply to blow out the white background. The ones used most (for white background) is Viveza, the secondly most used is AlienSkin Exposure and the third used for one or two shots is Nik Color Efex Pro.
All shots are here presented in full resolution. Two shots have been slightly cropped. The rest have been left as is.
Click each for full size view. Enjoy!

Yes, it’s me (above and below).

There is more to come.

ArkadiaFoto in Partille / Göteborg invited me to help them shot some models. I wanted to see and test the studio so I went there this very evening and tried light and some of my lenses. So here’s some of the resulting pictures. All images availible as almost full size download. I ended up using one profoto softboxed 1200w light slightly behind me to the right.
Lenses used: 30mm, 70-200, 120-300 and 10-20.
Camera: SD14 - ISO set to 100 by mistake. Should of course have been ISO50.

Sigma 30mm - RD note: Monochrome XDR

Sigma 10-20mm

Sigma 120-300mm RD note - colors slightly damped.

Sigma 70-200mm

Sigma 30mm again. Too much fun.
Note: All images has been altered slightly in PS with vignetting and some has seen a touch of Alien skin Exposure. The man on these images belong to Arkadiamodels.com

Today I made a discovery. My little brother Josef is going to Taize in France and wanted to lend a camera. I gave him my good old SD10 and when fiddling with it I found a CF card that I thought I had lost! :D So here we have some of the containing images. It’s from earlier this summer. SD14, 70-200 and Lightroom 1.1

I took Linn out to the railway for a focus test and for your enjoyment I publish some of the resulting images. We had a nice time and rain was in the air. We had to run before we were done.
If you want full size, write a comment about it and I might consider posting. :)

I’ve been fighting with my new monitor today. It’s a used Lacie 22 blue IV and I’m using a spider2 (thanks Thunderlance) to calibrate it. But I did it when it was bright and well, I wasn’t very satisfied with the result and I’ve been draging pictures back and forth between my laptops screen and the Lacie in order to see what it could look like IRL.. hehe Feels like I should only work in darkness with CRT’s..
This time I decided to give Camera Raw CS3 a chance and it worked pretty well. Good color control but a bit noisier. I never turned on noise reduction, maybe that’s why! ;) Black and whites looks far better using SPP, I think I will renmake those later.
ISO ranging from 100 to 800. Flash used in church sometimes. oh, Thanks Daniel Premberg for helping me with that reflector. :D

Lenses: All kinds of.
[EDIT] Movie is up!
[Edit 2008 | 1 | 23 - Now I look at these shots and I can clearly see that with todays software (both SPP 2.3 and RD 1.72) I could make better developments. So if you happen to download these are RAW - don’t be surprised if they look better! :D /Edit]
I went to Denmark yesterday invited by the Danish photographer Alroe to record my third “review” of the SD14. This time in his studio. It will take a couple of days to finish the movie but until then I want you to see some of the resulting images that came out and in full size and possibly soon as downloadable RAW files. (depends if you’re able to use a decent raw converter. ;)

I must say that I’m very happy and very satisfied with the result of our shoot. mr Alroe is using a Canon 5D with L lenses and that made this shoot a little more interesting. Now, we don’t want you to kill your eyes with pixel peeping so we didn’t take “exactly” the same shots, maybe next time. I’ve heard that Sigma SD14 images are too sharp and might hurt your eyes.
Last in this article you can read some more about my inital 5D feelings. I was using the latest firmware 1.01 for my SD14 and it’s a GREAT update. Colors of the LCD is now very nice and speed is also improved. It’s overall a better feeling doing photography with it. Many of these studio shots are shot at ISO200 BY MISTAKE! But, Bo also did on his 5D so for the sake of review it’s a good thing. But I’m sure result would be even more impressive using ISO100. Now over to some of my images.
One more thing. Lenses used was 30mm, 28mm, 70-200 and 50mm Sigma EX lenses. My ABSOLUTE favorite in the studio was the 28mm, it just nailed focus all the time and it’s very “correct”.

Yesterday I was out with my old friend Daniel. He just bought a new car and wanted me to shoot it before he did some mistakes with it. So here it is, while it’s nice. :) Click image to bring a bigger version. Much bigger.
All images captured with my Sigma SD14 and yes, I used a orange gradient filter to enhance the beautiful sunset. Lot’s of these are taken with the Sigma. Continue reading ‘[img] Daniel and his car - SD14 x 10′
I’ve spent some hours with the SD14 before it came to market and I wanted to share some of my photos from 2006. See them all!

I’m an old timer when it comes to SD cameras. My first was the SD9 back in 2002 and I’ve been hooked ever since. It’s not always been an easy ride, as my fellow Sigma-friends can assure but when focus and light has been perf you have an outstanding image that somehow speaks to the heart in a different way then a “bayern” image do. More analog if you like. It’s a little like the apple / pc thing, we Sigma people tend to really love our tool and the Sigma company. It’s a life style.
Now, I had the opportunity to work with the SD14. The first edition I had was before Photokina 2006, but after I used it for a week or two I had a big problem to go back to my older SD cameras. My web page has slowly died too, reason?. The SD14 is so much more. Handling, speed, AF, low-light performance, batteries etc etc. Even the vertical grip that will come out is extremely nice - The overall build quality is now so much more pro and balanced.
If you wanna compare it to the big guys, this Sigma is more like a Nikon.
Now, these images that I wanna show to you are developed using a modified old Sigma Photo Pro software. The SPP 2.2 (Mac version). The SPP 3.0 would maybe produce even better result. If you think they look a bit on the warm side that’s done by me, I want wedding shots warm and cozy.

And yes, My favorite lens is still the 30mm EX 1.4. Click to see wedding shots.

On the way home from our oceanic trip we saw two young moose and stopped to see if we could get close enough for a photo (wanted to use my 30mm at F1.4 because this was after sunset but had my 70-200 on, you know, maybe I at least could get something). But this was about the closest we got. The girl you see is Linn.
plus; they ran away as soon as Linn started to sound like a cow. I ran too.
Sigma SD9, ISO400, 70-200 EX processed using Lightroom.

Yesterday I went to a place not very far from home (about an hour drive) to find pictures with a nice oceanic touch. When you look at these images, remember this: They’re all taken with the SD9, all hand held and all given very little time in lightroom. And no time in photoshop. I can clearly see that there is way to many dirt spots from my 12-24 but I just don’t care right now. Enjoy them as they are! :D
Camera: Sigma SD9
Lenses: Sigma 30mm EX, 12-24 EX and 70-200 EX.

Me and my brother went for a little ride today, trying to find a place for a multi exposure shot of him climbing all over the place. In our search for a good spot we found this horse. When we took the picture, pretty far away from civilization, the owner came out wanting to talk. And this he did. about everything and nothing. About an hour later we found our selfs almost washed away and drained in water and home we returned. So my next picture is from that last part.
For horse image I used The SD10 and Sigmas 70-200 EX (old version) and for that other from inside the car I used Sigmas 12-24 EX. Both very nice lenses.
