Autumn depression by Kerstin Karlsson (music)

For those that follow my blog also knows that I sometimes use my little sisters music – and her song Autumn depression was a theme song on one of my videos (can’t reach youtube from┬áChina so I can’t find it nor link to it) but I just noticed when playing it to my parents in law that Kerstin updated the song and it’s now super great! :D

SDIM4498 Original

To the song I give you my first Pixelmator edited photo, it’s tough to work in a new software and it was frustrating but I think result is OK. It doesn’t have any advanced sharpening – and RawTherapee that I relied on so much lately doesn’t work in OS X Lion – So I’m stuck with what I got. Not much. :)

Hopefully Pixelmator 2.0 will have everything that I lack right now, but then it’s too late as I’ll be back home to my safe PS. :D

If anyone has any other suggestions for great sharpening softwares outside PS and on a Mac – and free or not very expensive then feel free to shout!

Hmm.. doesn’t look quite right on my browser, maybe gamma?

    Hi Carl,
Sorry to hear that the program I suggested doesn’t work in Lion. I notice they have just released version 3.0 with a lot of new features. It is much faster on my old laptop PC. They have a stable binary for MAC OS X 10.6 32bit and some newer nightly builds for the same.
Unfortunately I have no way of trying it out here, but I hope this would work on your machine.
    Regards,

  3. Have you tried “RAW Developer?” (http://www.iridientdigital.com/products/rawdeveloper.html)
I have not thoroughly yet investigated, however, at first blush does a fine job at a reasonable price. Seems to produces less CA or noise in shadows. It can be adjusted to render results to closely match to SSPro.

    Hi Carl,

Rawtherapee could be executed on Lion with a little fix (ee http://rawtherapee.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3077 for details):

    1. Download libiconv from https://bugzilla.gnome.org/attachment.cgi?id=192432&action=edit
    2. Replace the libiconv.2.dylib in RawTherapee.app Contents/MacOS/lib with the downloaded file

    Worked for me…

    Greetings
    Andreas

Can Rawtherapee be used with SD1 raws?

  6. Dan says:

RT does handle Raw formats from most major makers, but unfortunately except for Sigma. Seems to me that RT is based around the Bayer sensor format which required demosaicing, but we can suggest someone add Sigma RAW support via DCRAW or some other utility. (the source code is available to the entire community under GPL)

I recommend first converting to your X3F to TIFF and then massaging it in RT. You can even do geometric lens corrections, color manipulation and highlight recovery among other options.
I recommend checking out the comprehensive manual before giving it a try, to see if it meets your needs.
