Calibrate your mac for free!

During the years I’ve got lots of emails asking me to talk about screen calibration and with this little video I show how you can do it with your Mac (or Hackintosh incase that’s your thing). When done you can have a look at this image to see if it looks any better, or even use it as a basic calibration tool if you’re a PC user. Please share your own best tips in the comment section below.

About Carl Rytterfalk

Welcome to my blog! I'm Carl Rytterfalk, a swedish photographer who loves everything that is interesting in the world of photography. In 2002 I fell in love with the three layered Foveon sensor and has since then been an addicted user of Sigma cameras. Though I use Canon and Nikon as well. :)

I got my brand new DP2s today & did some test shots: AMAZING. Though I only use a standard HP-Notebook with a 17″-screen@1680×1050, I found a combined tuning of the ATI-graphics-driver, Windows7-integrated graphics adjustment tools, Adobe Gamma Ray & Sigma Foto Pro sufficient to deliver a sustainable, good calibration – all without any technical fuss. I also find the integrated Auto-development-mode´╗┐ in Foto Pro good for ordinary day standard shots. I’m also positive about the DP2s’ JPEG-Engine;)

  6. Carl,
I tried to use Apple’s built in calibrator for years and was never happy until I got my Eye-One calibraitor. It is a high end model but a low end Spyder or Huey is still way better than fiddling around with Apple’s tool. Its just too subjective and inconsistient.

  7. Paul Petersen,

Well, until I get another screen.. :)
