Final shot..

I know this will not really be the final one – because I know I will try hard to get a really awesome shot of the little one using the Sigma SD1. But somehow this shot just came out so beautiful and seeing that bokeh just made me.. wanting to post again. :) It’s sooo creamy!

Welcome to my blog! I'm Carl Rytterfalk, a swedish photographer who loves everything that is interesting in the world of photography. In 2002 I fell in love with the three layered Foveon sensor and has since then been an addicted user of Sigma cameras. Though I use Canon and Nikon as well. :)

The lighting is superb, seems like sunset light to me. It is nicely emphasizing the golden feathers on the belly. I also like the reflections in the water at the bottom of the shot, since it is not clear that this photographed is on top of water.
Moreover, you focused on the bird very nicely. Did you use 5-point focus or center & then moved the camera to the right?

  2. Hi Dan, First of all, thanks for the kind comment. :)

Secondly, I always use the center point of focus – I always did and most likely will continue to do so.. I can sometimes, at portrait photo sessions, select a different point but I never give the camera the power to auto select. (it irritates me not to be 100% in control).

So yes, focus and then move. :)

About the reflections. The thing is that when I look at the picture I wonder myself where the horizon is and if, at all, it’s inside the frame. I know I stand up and I stand a bit above the bird but – anyways. It’s a cool looking smear of bokeh. :)
