Common Cranes – 120-300 [updated]

Went to the famous Hornborgarsjön today, it’s famous because every year tens of thousands of Common Cranes come here to play and so do tourists. And me. The lake is located about 100km from where I live so it’s a bit stupid that I don’t go there more often. It’s such a nice place for the 100-300 to play. Perhaps the SD15 plus 50-500 OS would be even better?

I made them BW because it’s so nice, colors looks perfectly ok too but.. and these are all SPP 4, which actually, believe it or not makes pretty nice BW’s from ISO400 and below. (not above). I had to underexpose some in order to get  decent speed, light was so so.. So BW’s the way to go. Might show you color version another time.

Oh, and do you know what’s so cute about these birds? Once they found their mate, they stick together! :)

Yeah, bigger ones clear the point. Also, to be perfectly honest there are ~ 1-2 thousand people like me who await your SD15 first test.

Personally, I am not into buying it – not because of price, but of more obvious reasons. Still, you reviews are really interesting.

Have you already received TOP SD-ECRET SIGMA BOX?

P.s. I really like film BW, that’s why I am not so loving about digital cameras. Although, last photo is real beauty.

  2. Jake, there will be tons of SD15 articles in the future, I can assure you that. And I can’t tell you if I received the SD15 yet, if I do I’ll have to kill you. bhahahahaha

I deeply love film BW too, and to my eye three layer is the closest we have in the digital world.

    Dear Carl,
I am blown away with your crane pictures, a bird I have always longed to see. I believe that there is one pair nesting in a bird reserve in Norfolk here – I do so hope more follow. Your pictures are pure delight, especially the B&w ones – thank you!

  4. Saffron, I’m really happy you like them. Those birds are HUGE and it’s really a sight to behold! I wish I can go there one more time before they leave to your place? – This year there were about 15000 birds around this lake. Pretty amazing.
