Alexander is trying to quit smoking and I’m not sure what it is I see in his eye, but a little bit of shame perhaps that I caught him? But it’s a bit of a setup, I asked him to look serious and he tried his best.
I developed this image twice in Sigma Photo Pro. Fist one with ONLY background in mind. Red channel worked nicely but then his face was very very dark. So I developed a second time with the blue channel and this time his face was nicely lit. (shadows often brightens up in the blue channel).. The rest is all about PS.
About Carl Rytterfalk
Welcome to my blog! I'm Carl Rytterfalk, a swedish photographer who loves everything that is interesting in the world of photography. In 2002 I fell in love with the three layered Foveon sensor and has since then been an addicted user of Sigma cameras. Though I use Canon and Nikon as well. :)
Love this one, his attitude is really peculiar.
One of the reasons I love this site is the high percentage of images that jump out at me and stop me in my tracks.
This image of Alex is one of them.
The face says that there are significant emotions going on, but as is so often the case with our fellow human beings, it’s dangerous to draw conclusions on what other people are thinking.
I like Carl’s pictures when they have a Scandanavian feel to them.
From what I see in Carl’s images, I find that the younger generation of Scandanavian people have their own interpretation of fashion that can’t be labelled or pigeonholed. It shows an independent mindset that goes in its own direction (I like that).
As far as the development of the image goes, it’s a bit weird to see the smoke coming out as almost black !!
