I got some emails from people willing to lend me some equipment for the trip - one 50mm 1.4 and some other lenses. Sad only that most of them lives too fat away. I don't know about Sweden and China (or any stops you are making), but the EF 50/1.8 is very cheap, very good (though soft wide open) and used to be easy to find at least in the USA. Not USM, so focusing noise may be a problem for video. Sigma and Canon both make 50/1.4 USM for full frame. They are four times the price of the 50/1.8, but might be easier to find. Good luck.
