Not much to say, have a session tomorrow and wanted to know how much I could trust my 30mm wide open. Some shots turned out quite nice so I decided to share. :) All images are uploaded as full size (converted automatic via 1001 flickr uploader - in case you see some nasty JPEG artefacts).

Carl,
Your shooting with the lens especially is just incredible, and even shooting to test they come out fantastic!
Cheers amigo!
I was already planning on buying this lens. DO WANT!
I’m also considering buying this prime. My biggest concern is that the fixed focal length is a bit too short for portraits. Are the pictures cropped during the postprocessing? Does the SD14 have a full frame sensor (36×24 mm) or is it a cropping sensor?
Was also considering the new 50 mm prime from sigma, but it’s bigger and still has no price nor shipping date yet… :(
this lens is superb! i bought it straight away when i got my sd14 probably the best lens i have ever used..
at f/1.4 its really really good, but i tend to use 2.8 as my focusing isnt great..
as for th 50mm im waiting for that too.. i want to use it with my sa9
Top pictures mate, was considering a nikon 35 f2 for my D40 to have a good crack at manual focusing, don’t think I’ll bother now though as despite all the reviews I’ve read that say Sigma is “soft”, after seeing your pictures (Real pictures! No shots of pointless charts or bits of cloth. How VERY unprofessional of you! ;0) ) I think I’ll buy the Sigma and have the option of auto and manual.
Nice job mate
hehe, it’s not soft! Especially not in center. It does get pretty soft fast in corners. It sharpens up nicely when you stop down to - say F2 - f4. I normally use this lens at F1.6 - F2. :)
Great photos! Nice to see real photography instead of stupid test charts. I think that’s largely what lends so much weight to your reviews – you’re actually using the gear, not just blabbing about something you tested once in a lab! :) Nice work, man!
Thanks Justin! :P
