My little sister Anna Ingvarsson went away to shoot nature and lent my DP1. She came back a day later with lots of really nice shots - I’m only going to show you one because that’s the only one I dealt with (making it black and white). I think it’s beautiful! What do you think?

Carl:
You mention using the monochrome option in SPP and your results are very good. I am only able to find 2 ways,de saturate or change white balance to monochrome. Frankly neither option seems worthwhile and so i was wondering if you have any additional information about making B&W with this software.
Charles
Carl,
It’s nice to see you back.
I love this shot. Your sister looks like she’s got a good eye.
Charles, The monochrome option is the “real” BW as it collects all info into BW as if there were no layers at all. It’s a very cool thing and I’ve used it plenty in the past. a true black and white film mode so to speak.
In order to get the “right” feeling you need to play with highlight and shadow contrast sliders inside SPP. When this is done you bring it inside photoshop and add some vignetting and maybe some extra contrast. (brightness/contrast)
I hope this helps.
Beside all the complicated post processing, this picture looks really cool :)
