Hi Curtis!

Considering the current price point of the SD14 which is way below it's worth and the more than useful DP1 you might be on the right track! :) But, of course you're asking the wrong person.

The D200 is not a bad camera, it's faster at everything compared to the SD14, and you have more lens-options etc than with a Sigma system. If those things are OK, then the filmish look of the SD14/DP1 images will make you very happy!

I am glad I found this site. I have been waffling over my next purchase. I have been looking at hte DP1 and the Cannon G9. I am mostly in interested in the final quality of image. I typically shoot with an Nikon D200, i thought the DP1 might be a great addition to the family, then I thought I might just get rid of the D200 and get a G14 as well. Thoughts?

All the best from the USA.

Hey Carl: thanks for your tips and blog. My DP-1 will be here soon, and I am thinking of buying another SD-14—they are too cheap to not buy right now.

cheers to all, Kit

Brian Mosley. The more you get to know it, the more you'll like it. And of course with some tweaks by firmware it will most probably become better with time.

Chebb, thanks.

Australia, NY, Thailand, Czech Republic, Russia, Brasil, Namibia! Respect to you all! :D

TTH: Good luck with the SD14 and don't you forget to upgrade to latest firmware. It just became better! :D

I have SD14 with 17-70 and I can't say anything bad on SD14. It's simple one of the hell kinda camera. Colors and sharpness is just everything what I want from my camera. SD14 may not have not so good ISO-ratings but I don't mind becouse this is my first SLR. Only thing what i'm little unsatisfied on SD14's display, becouse my previous camera had 230k pixel display so SD14's 150k pixel display is inaccurate. But computer is for watching the outcome.

"Could this be called the DP1 factor?"

I think a little, but more so is the Carl factor - a mix of great images, tips and tricks, honest enthusiasm and a lot of creativity!

Hi Carl, I consider you a master of promotion... and a great photographer too! And I can't fault you recommending the E-420 over the DP1, but I can't buy an E-420 yet!

Seriously, the DP1 is a funky, fun and overpriced little camera... if Sigma put some serious investment into tidying up the user interface it will be a classic!

Kind Regards

Brian

Honest information on the DP-1 is hard to find - you've provided not only great information on the camera - but also inspirational photos with a quirky sense of humour. I've just ordered my DP-1 in Perth, Australia ;)

Yes, yes & triple yes.
Mind you it could have something to do with the quality, skill, care & imagination that you put into your photography too.
I came here from dpreview.com. As far as all the posters there who have been writing about the DP1,you come across as the most enthusiastic & well balanced in your views. Would not consider you to be a fanboy when you recommended the Olympus 420 over the DP1 as being more appropriate for a particular persons needs.
Hope your business is improving from the Publicity.
All the best, Paul.
