[edit] Something is not right.. Right now colors are too saturated and I will see if I can find why. Before everything was too pale, not it’s the opposite. Strange indeed. Color spaces can be tricky to get right. :)
[old] Been working hard all day with my RAW’s on a good monitor. So now, colors should be improved. A few images are not touched and a few spreads are new. Feel free to take a look at 21 fresh spreads and feel free to comment.
Camera: Sigma SD10 Lens: Sigma 30mm EX and 105mm EX Photographer / book design: Me Me Me Model: Liu Dong Yun aka Linn Pearl designer: Helena Sjolin
PS. I want each spread to be standing on it’s own, as a poster or something. So, the logo has to be EVERYWHERE. :) And there is no front page yet (no cover).

The âpearl bookâ? is a project I do for a pearl jewelry designing friend. (young and coming) The book will be ca 16Ă18cm and have about 60 pages. Will be printed on high gloss 125g (plus gloss) chinese style paper to bring cost down. 60 pages in this size is exactly what you need to fill one standard A0 print sheet. :) Oh, Plus a cover in 300g paper from the same producer.
Now I need some feedback.
I have done about 50 pages so far and I selected some representative spreads for you to look at. Keep in mind that these images are going to be folded in the middle.
I started with the layout yesterday and I’m not clear about many smaller things such as where to put the logo and in what size, how to put the text (which tells what jewelry it is etc) But for now I want to hear what you have to say.
Btw, what do you think of the logo?! Also my creation.
 See all 13 spreads!

From this very evening, playing around with the 30mm on my roof. Not pefectly balanced and all but.. hey it’s my girl! Enjoy, click for bigger..

The Sigma 70-200 2.8 EX is a wonderful lens that shows the strength of the Sigma EX line. Great contrast, sharpness and bokeh makes it perfect for anyone seeking that perfect shot.
Took a walk with it a couple of weeks ago and wanted to show you the result in a little different way.. So here you have them as Sigma ads. :)

I need help to get that “Skype me” or “Call me” button to work.. Can you fix that?! It’s some sort of java script. Get the script here: http://www.skype.com/share/buttons/

I always wanted to make comic books. Never happened until now. I found this cool software that makes the whole cumbersome process of getting that look so so easy.
The story is old but told in a new way. Camera SD10, lens Sigma 30mm EX and processing tool is good old Adobe Lightroom. There is a nice 30 day trial of the “comic life” software available at www.PLASQ.com

UPDATE! For the moment the “Call me” button doesn’t work, if you know how to get the small javascript used to work, please tell me. Will update this post whenever it’s fixed. Until then,
Please feel free to give me a call! If I’m not at the computer you will be redirected to my mobile phone (you don’t pay anything). If you’re in Sweden you can use this local number: 031-360 7486 and still get to China. Download skype at www.skype.com
EDIT: If you’re a skype user, my user name is “rytterfalk” – add me and we could have a chat some day.

It’s not often I link to other photographers works, but this is just a must see for all you photo interested guys and girls out there. What camera does he use?. Go to his hompage and find out.
A friend of mine reminded me about a very — event that occurred about a year ago.
The 25th of March in 2005 I posted some pictures from a trip to Yuan Yang, a beautiful county about eight hours south from where I now live – if you which you can read that thread on dpreview. Among images of people and nature I also had two images showing dead dogs. On the right you see one of them.
This somehow made some people very angry, and resulted in me being banned from the forums of www.dpreview.com. Here is the “free carl” thread initiated by my good friend Laurence Matson after I mailed him about the strange situation. At the time I had no clue about why I was banned. I thought it was a mistake. Or this one my Gary Mercer.
After some digging I also find my first “free” post. read now.
So, thanks again everyone for the support I got at the time. These two pictures of dead dogs are now available as postcards and I’ll try to bring some to Photokina 2006.

Talking much about my new apartment, not showing much so here we go. I didn’t get a good shot of my big oval office or the dining room or number 1 and 2 room. But another day I’ll try to show you those one as well. No pictures on the walls, will put up some asap.. Most of these are from this very morning and the roof shots from yesterday. The guy drinking beer are also known as the “pearl guy Jacob” :D

PS. Yesterday I had some fine folks from Sweden passing by, and the guy, Erik Kempe (there is a girl as well) trusted me with his Canon 350D and I took this stunning sunset image.

Now I’ll not be posting much of pictures for the coming week or so, currently designing a booklet for a new Norweigan Gallery. I can also say now, with a few days in my new home. I’m lovin it.

The Sigma 30 is a remarkable piece of equipment and somehow I just can’t stop posting images from it. This perticular image has been shown before and maybe you got tired of it, BUT I’m just having fun here. It’s my blog. ;)
And this one has been on my table for quite a while. It’s going to be exhibited in Hong Kong soon and I have been fighting with my screens accuracy So,
this is to all of you out there with too much money in your pockets. Please send me money so I can buy myself a MacBook Pro. (Or just send me one!)
Now, those of you out there with nice monitors and everything. How does this image look to you when reviewed in Photoshop?. Please review and get back to this post with a comment. :) I know this isn’t necessary but it’s fun! OK?!
And if Karl Guttag, DonP or any other that we all know from before would pass by, please leave a message. Time has passed and maybe your view has changed or maybe you have more to tell us?! Could be fun to have a chat.
Btw, a bird told me that the new Sigma is, is, is, GREAT.
We gonna moooove! For some reasons we had to move out from the shared apartment that we lived in and now we found a totally extremely wonderful roof apartment that has a small ‘underthesky’ little roof above the roof that we live in. (?!) It’s on the eights floor (or ninth for the roof roof top) without elevator (!!) It’s 78 m2, totally new, just finished.
Extremely light, windows everywhere (perfect for photography) with flowers etc around. Wood floor, WiFi, sit toilet. Well, great everything.
You bet we’re happy. so, why I say this?! well, COME! We have space and a great place for relaxation. It’s fresh and just wonderful with mountain view and restaurants all around (did I mention great massage and photography?!).
So, now it’s said. We don’t know what to do when we move to Sweden, we’ll try to pay the rent so that we can return to it, but time will tell.

I’m sitting on a Apple Powerbook and the screen isn’t good enough for
color correction. I noticed while visiting a friend that white balance were way off (a temp of 6500 instead of 5500) and because of this I used my “color correction” action on all photos in order to get as true result as possible. (Because I can’t trust my eyes)
So now, with new knowledge I have recreated some of them to show what they should look like. I have also used AlienSkin Exposure in order to get a more filmlike experience. I used Kodachrome EES incase you wanna do the same. (free download and demo at www.alienskin.com)
PS. I now realized that there is no shortcuts to a good monitor. I just have to get one. So, enjoy these “yellow” images ones more. :)Â

Camera: Sigma SD10 and Lens: Sigma 30mm F1.4 EX at F1.8 – 2.5
Yesterday, I went to a small village outside Kunming together with my friends Karin and Samuel Linde. When we first came to the village the village seamed to be totally empty. We were quite surprised. Soon we discovered that everyone had gone to the local market and it’s there most of yesterdays pictures where taken.
Best outdoor use of the 30/1.4 I have seen so far. I love that lens, and it is great to see other people have been getting great results as well (outside of the predictable complaints on the Canon SLR lens forum). I guess I will have to sometime take mine outside! :-)
