Interview with Sigma’s COO Kazuto Yamaki.

Kazuto Yamaki, COO Sigma Coorp. In 2002 Sigma released their first digital camera, the SD9. Image quality was superb (still is amazingly good if you ask me). Soon after Sigma and Foveon came out with a second generation camera, basically the same but now with improved ISO capability (among other things). This was back in 2003 and many of us is eagerly waiting for something new and improved that would help us to take better pictures and print even larger.

Now, even if it’s three years since last update, SD10 still holds very well against the toughest of todays competitors (see this comparison). So knowing that a new camera is in the works makes me very happy. If the SD10 holds this good, how about a better one?! And knowing that they been working on it for some years now makes the wait even more worth it.

Back to the interview at dc watch; What this article is saying is basically this: Your wait is soon over and the new much improved Sigma will arrive with a new Foveon sensor and we’ll make you happy once more!

You don’t know japanese?! Read this translation over at Dpreview. Letsgodigital also had an interview with the COO. Take me to Letsgodigital’s interview

So, in the wait for the real announcement I’ll go shoot a little more with my SD’s!
