Decisiveness in China!

\
I just have to write about the Chinese decisiveness behavior. it’s very different from home and here’s my thoughts, I’ll start with three examples:\
\
Example #1: A little more then a year ago my roommate decided to buy a Golden Retriever. The dog grew up, he was trained, feed and lived a happy life. Everybody knew he loved his dog, and he spoke of little else. One morning my friend tells his girlfriend that he during the night decided to sell the dog and that he put him out for 3000RMB on the internet. \
\
A price that is totally ridiculous for a dog like that. And the result is of course that a lot of people were directly interested. His girlfriend tells him that it was a dumb price and not very thoughtful so my friend directly decides to change and he\’d5s now not very sure he wants to sell any longer. \
\
Example #2: Another friend that I meat during English corner had a new life plan every second week. First was to go to Sweden to study, he planned for that and about one and a half week later he decides that it wasn\’d5t a good idea. Now it\’d5s England. He planned for that, talked about nothing else. One and a half week later he had thousands of reasons why he should stay in China to study. Now, that sounds great in about one and a half week. Now it\’d5s much better to just work in China. That sounds like a terrific idea, the big question is with what?!\
\
A bar, one of the most common wanting among my friends. A Bar, a little more sophisticated one, for sophisticated people. But only for a week and a half. IF this guy had started the bar, then he would probably have it for a year or so. Then he would have sold it. Probably. It\’d5s not very common that a bar have the same owner for a very long time. Often because you don\’d5t know anything about having a bar. \
\
Example #3: My girlfriend looked for apartment closer to me, she found a very nice one and the price was perfect. She decided to bring me along for the last meeting with the owner. We signed all paper but didn’t have more than one month pay with us, we had to have six. We went home to gather money and we had setup another meeting a day after. Back home the next morning the owner called, saying that my girlfriend couldn’t buy anymore. Reason, she has a foreign boyfriend. No other reason. Just that. Quick and dirty.\
\
You make life-changing decisions in the speed of light. Often way to fast. And you\’d5re totally ready to change whatever plan you had. \
\
Why? I think because of years the current political situation, adaptation to the system not knowing about tomorrow, always prepared for new situations and bow to them. Like the bamboo and the water. No time to think too much. \
\
If everything around you \’d2can\’d3 change quickly without notification. Then maybe your life would be a little like this. OR the opposite. Extreme indecisiveness.\
\
Btw, The local government is acting exactly the same way. They tear down beautiful old areas for new high buildings without thinking. They shuffle inhabitants far away outside the city and life goes in without disturbance. \

Book: Sugar and Salt…

\

IMG16756

In fall of 2003 a group of women meet here in Kunming. The group consisted of chinese and Scandinavian women and a leader from England. They where artists, dancers, writers etc and they worked together with sugar and salt. Two weeks in China and two weeks in Sweden.

Finally the book about all this is done and ready to ship. I where the only outsider in this project I filmed and took photographs of everything they did. Camera used was a Sigma SD9. Main lenses: Sigma 50mm EX and Sigma 15-30EX. The final book now contains about 220 selected photographs from China and Sweden. Accompanied with a text in English and Chinese about the project.

I made the book using Indesign CS, used swedish ecologic paper, Munken, 220g. Cover 300g. Size 26×21cm. Printed here in Kunming/China.\

Video filter..

\
just tried a nice filter on a short videoclip. 1min 45sec and it took more than 2h to render.. MPEG4 “old video filter” 00:01:45 - 20MB \

Too much at the same time..

\
Work work work, and movies. :) Last night I saw “Unleashed” or as it was first called, “Danny the dog” with Jet Li. (I\’d5m a fan of Luc) It was VERY good. \
\
At work I’m working hard and quick with the children book. 88 pages and 40 scanned and photographed artworks.. two languages as normal. (Will feel like blessing when I return to one back in Sweden) I\’d5m reading some forums about HD editing, photography and cars at the same time. I should shut down Internet to be truly focused but that’s so boring. :)\
\
Linn came back from a 7 days trip and I feel less alone now.
\f1 \uc0\u9786
\f0 She had my SD10 with power pack and the 24-60 lens. She had a lot of fun and people took her for a pro.
\f1 \uc0\u9786
\f0 She is 1.58cm high and weight about 44kg so you can imagine how big the camera looked. :D\
\
I\’d5ll post some of her pictures soon. She\’d5s getting really good.\

distances\
\
It\’d5s strange how the feel for a distance changes here compared to Sweden. This might be easier for a swed to understand But I’ll give it a try and give you an example. \
\
Right now I’m sitting on a bus going home from a town down south of Kunming. Wen Shang is its name. The trip I\’d5m doing is going to take about 6h and I feel that I\’d5m soon in Kunming. This feeling is quite strange. In Sweden going from Malmo ( a town south in Sweden) and Goteborg (a town more north) would take about 4h on a bus, a trip that I, back then would call a long trip. I wouldn’t say; I\’d5m soon in Goteborg, not even when it was half way.\
\
I wonder if size in this case matters?! If the size of China somehow changes my mind about distances and that maybe I would go back to normal thinking when returning to Sweden. \
\
I remember when I went to Shangri la and after 12 hours in a sleeping bus came home and asking some friends if they been there, and when their answer where no my direct reply where; Why? It\’d5s so close!\
\
But I\’d5m happy that my thinking is as it is as long as I am where I am. Reflections?\
